Sono state annunciate dall’Academy le prime shortlist dalle quali usciranno le nomination per i film in gara agli Oscar 2021.
Le categorie finora svelate sono nove: Miglior Documentario, Miglior documentario cortometraggio, Miglior Film internazionale, Make Up e Hairstyling, Miglior Colonna sonora, Miglior Canzone originale, Miglior cortometraggio animato, Miglior cortometraggio live action, Effetti visivi.
L’Italia è presente con “Notturno” di Gianfranco Rosi per il miglior documentario, con “Pinocchio” di Matteo Garrone per il miglior make up e Hairstylist e con “La vita davanti a sé” di Edoardo Ponti per la Miglior colonna sonora.
Nella categoria Miglior film internazionale c’è il film francese “Two Of Us” diretto dall’italiano Filippo Meneghetti e tra i migliori cortometraggi “Cosa farebbe Sophia Loren?” con Sophia Loren ed Edoardo Ponti di Ross Kauffman.
Le candidature estratte dalla shortlist saranno annunciate il 15 marzo e le statuette saranno consegnate il 25 aprile.
