Si è svolta lunedì 20 agosto a New York la cerimonia di premiazione dei prestigiosi MTV Video Music Awards 2018, che ha visto l’esibizione di grandi artisti quali Madonna che ha dedicato un tributo alla regna del soul Aretha Franklin, gli Aerosmith che hanno cantato Dream On e Toys in the Attic, Post Malone e 21 Savage, ma anche Travis Scott, James Blake, Jennifer Lopez che ha proposto un medley di suoi successi, da Waiting for tonight a On the floor, fino ad Ariana Grande che si è esibita sulle note di God is a woman raggiunta sul palco dalla mamma, dalla nonna e dalla zia.
Protagonista della serata è stata Camila Cabello che ha trionfato nelle categorie Artist of the Year e Best Video per Havana. Ad Ariana Grande è andato il premio come Best Pop, agli Imagine Dragons quello Best Rock, a Cardi B il Best New Artist.
